What is Think or Swim?
Think or Swim (TOS) is a brokerage firm specializing in options trading. While options are certainly their specialty, you can also trade many futures contracts and currencies under the same account number.
Think or Swim was founded by two ex-floor traders from the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) who naturally understand the importance of fast decision making for successful options trading. Market information streams at the speed of light and they had to make quick and accurate decisions on pricing, strategies, and risk. Their careers depended on it. They had to think – or swim.
After years of successful trading, the two decided to bring all of their knowledge to the retail side and created a brokerage firm that boasts the most professional level trading platform available for retail option traders. Think or Swim was born. The information isn’t just available for professionals anymore.
Everything you could dream of needing is in the TOS software. And with twelve to fifteen new releases every year, the features constantly grow to adapt to new technology and techniques. Quotes by strategies, historical option quotes, volatility studies, expected stock prices, real-time profit and loss diagrams, trade simulations, dynamic option Greeks, risk analysis, access to their spread book and other information too numerous to mention immediately appears at the click of a mouse. Sounds expensive?
It’s absolutely free just for opening an account. No sign-up, monthly or recurring fees of any kind. If you are serious about options, there is no substitute.
If you’d like to find out more about Think or Swim, you can visit their website at www.ThinkorSwim.com.
Loads of Information. Lots to Learn.
Why is TOS training offered? There are many Options A to Z students using the TOS platform. Others wish to explore it before opening an account. In either case, there is a two-part learning process you must tackle. First, you need to know where to find the information. Second, you must understand how to interpret it. Knowing where the information lies is only half the battle. Understanding it is the other. Misinterpreting accurate information is no worse than acting on inaccurate information.
Finding the information is
just one part of the learning process.
Understanding it is the other.
The Think or Swim training classes through Options A to Z helps you through both of these learning processes.
I’ve developed a three-week course that takes you through the entire platform – from A to Z – which shows you how to find and interpret the information.
Because the Think or Swim platform is so involved, I decided to break up the training into two separate courses: Part I and Part II. Both courses are three weeks long and teach you everything you’ll need to know to make the most out of this unparalleled professional system.
Think or Swim
We start at the very beginning and show you everything from downloading to setting up and navigating through the software. I’ll cover the “setup” button which allows you to customize many features inside the platform such as the default settings for the number of shares or contracts, the increment size, alert settings, and stock commission choices. After setting up the software, we highlight the following areas and tabs:
Account Info
All fields inside this area are covered and explained including “stock buying power” and “option buying power.”
Gadgets
You’ll learn how to view live news, set up and use quick chart, dashboard, live audio, CNBC Live, scratch pad, and the calculator.
Market View
Find out how to set up and sort your own watch lists, public, top 10, and industry lists.
Trade Tab
Find out everything you need to know to start placing trades. You’ll find how to place stock and option orders, place stops, stop limits, trailing stops, and many other risk management types of orders offered by TOS. I’ll also show you how to customize layouts, quote by strategies, create a trade grid, find level II quotes, and more! You’ll also learn the position and order entry tools, order book, and everything else you need to confidently place trades.
Monitor Tab
Learn how to monitor today’s working, filled, cancelled and open orders as well as track your positions on this easy-to-use tab.
Alerts Tab
Learn how to place alerts for your stock and option orders. Would you like an email or a message to appear on the TOS system when your stock or option reaches a certain price? You’ll see how with this powerful tool.
Account Tab
Find your account balances, trade history, order history, positions, fill prices, average fill prices, and account summaries.
Analyze Tab
The analyze tab is the most powerful and important of all the tabs. It shows where your current risks are and how they will change over time. Most option traders exit positions too soon because they aren't quite sure how the position will behave as the stock price, time, and volatility changes. The analyze tab easily answers all of your questions!
This training class is designed to take you slowly through the basics of navigating the system, placing trades, monitoring positions and account balances. You’ll also learn all the ins and outs on setting up charts to monitor your stocks. All tabs and subtabs are covered in detail!
All classes are recorded and emailed to each student for review within minutes of each class ending.
When Do Classes Begin?
A new class begins May 25. They are taught on Tuesday and Thrusday from 6pm to 8pm ET for a total of five weeks. You’ll gain a lot of information that you can start using immediately and practice with over the weekend on the TOS Paper Money system. The ten in-depth training sessions are just $195.
If you have any questions regarding the TOS training, please feel free to email me at bill@optionsAtoZ.com or call 561-282-9455.
I look forward to teaching you the art and science behind the most comprehensive options platform in the business!
